I am designing a line of women’s casual apparel and I am looking
for pattern makers, wholesale textile/fabric stores, and places I can get my prototypes made, any suggestions?
    SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA

Unless you go to Chinatown, you’ll be hard pressed to find the expertise….

Might I suggest New York City, or even the Carolinas where I am. We have textile mills be the 100’s and can mass produce very high quality goods very quickly…

Where can I find Fiskars Garden Tool wholesalers who will drop ship for any amount?

Posted by admin on October 31st, 2009 and filed under drop ship wholesale | 3 Comments »

I’m operating an online business selling garden tools, and need to broaden my selection of tools. Fiskars minimum wholesale shipment is $500. I’m not ready for that. Another wholesaler has a 450 minimum. Most garden tools wholesale under $20, so that precludes their drop shipping to my customers. Who is out there that is reliable?
    I meant $50 not $450

What is the typical mark up from wholesale to retail?

Posted by admin on October 31st, 2009 and filed under wholesale | 4 Comments »

I would like to know what the normal mark up percentage is if I buy something wholesale and then sell it retail. Also what is the typical percentage of mark up between actual manufacturing cost and wholesale cost? Thanks!

It entirely depends on the product and how it is distributed. Just a few examples, raw materials to make jewelry (gold) is sold at market price. The manufacturer sells to the retailer for a set price based on the number of units he agrees to buy over a year’s time. The more he buys and longer the contract, the less he pays. The markup range for jewelry at a place like Target is anywhere from 300 – 1000%. Yes…1000%! When you buy a ring from a jeweler for $10,000, the actual material value is only about $400-$1000, depending on the type, which is a 1000-2500% markup.

Overall, a retailer, combining in all their sales, is considered to be doing well if their cost is under 30%.

Trying to find worldwide wholesale suppliers of meat?

Posted by admin on October 31st, 2009 and filed under wholesale directory | 1 Comment »

I can’t seem to find any wholesale suppliers of meat (beef, pork, poultry). The problem is that I am looking for very large quantities (5-10k tons), and all I am finding are small shops. Most business directories seem to point to small businesses with outdated information.

Search from http://www.hellotrade.com there are many meat suppliers listed with contact details.
