Selling my own product at wholesale to retailers?

Posted by admin on July 28th, 2010 and filed under wholesale retailers | 1 Comment »

Does anyone know what I would need to sell my own hand made products at wholesale prices to retail stores? Do I need a tax ID #? Does the retailer pay the taxes or do I? What kind of company set up should this be? I am not selling retail at all just wholesale but how can I set up my company to get a tax ID # to buy products at wholesale (to save me on costs) that will be sold at wholesale? I am really confused about the whole set up and tax liability aspect. Any info would be greatly appreciated!!!!!! Thank you!!

To get a tax id number you’d have to go to the appropriate government web site. This link should be the right one for that.
    http://www.gov-tax.com/?OVRAW=tax%20id%20number&OVKEY=tax%20id%20number&OVMTC=standard&OVADID=7675959521&OVKWID=87854545521

After you get your tax id #, (or before you get it) you could list your stuff on auction site. I wouldn’t suggest ebay because they charge for everything.

Instead try satisfaction.com, ubidright.com or search for free auction sites. Some of them charge a final value fee and some are totally free.

    Hope this helps you.

I am looking to open a sports equipment store and I am in the middle of writing the business plan. This may sound like a dumb question but where do retailers like my store buy their product from? There must be a catalog for retailers so they can turn a profit.

    Cargo 2nd of 3 commercials..Cargo Breaking it Down July 20th & 21st in NYC www.cargotradeshow.com

Posted by admin on July 19th, 2010 and filed under wholesale retailers | 1 Comment »

Cargo is back for its 3rd installment, marking the independent fashion trade show and shopping events one-year anniversary, July 20 and 21, 2009, at the St. Patricks Center in New York City. Once again, the two-day event will feature lifestyle pop-up shops from some of the industrys hottest brands. Apparel, footwear and accessories brands will sell wholesale to retailers, while the general public is invited to shop discounted and exclusive inventory in an atmosphere filled with music, gifts, drinks and art.

Cargo broke the mold a year ago with an intimate show that created a new model for conducting business in the fashion industry. By the second show in January 2009, Cargo more than quadrupled in size and became the first fashion trade show to open its doors to the public.

With this anniversary show, Cargo brings the fashion industry another one-of-a-kind event, and as always provides additional avenues for established and emerging brands to showcase and sell their products for this season and next and generate buzz for their fresh product.

At Wildchild Nation we’re always looking for economical opportunities to generate sales. Not only were we able to cover our booth fees from cash and carry sales at the event, but we also grew our wholesale business with several boutique orders and made some great networking connections.

    - Marc David, Wildchild Nation

Bigger is not always better and the CARGO trade show is a testament to that notion. It was well edited and had a laid back atmosphere. It offered everyone a more intimate experience that is conducive to building relationships.

    - Eric Cano, Antenna Magazine
