i know it has to do with acquiring a tax id, I’m asking because I’m trying to start an ebay business and need products to sell?
also where do i find these products such as iphones, ipods, Xboxs, Playstations ect. on the internet?

You would need to have a wholesalers license or a reseller’s license. Most wholesalers are very reluctant to sell to business people who don’t have one. If you have a resellers license they’ll need your info.
However if you’re small time, you’ll run into problems. I had a very reluctant wholesaler finally give me information on ordering in bulk from him, I make stuffed toys and buy about 4oo pounds of fiberfill a year and wanted a second source in case the primary place I buy from goes out of business. He thought that was too ‘small potatoes’ for him and didn’t want to send me anything in the way of literature or get me on their records as a buyer.
So be prepared to insist if you do come across someone like that. If you have a license, you’re ‘legitimate’ and should be able to purchase.

To acquire a "tax id" that allows you to purchase items as a retailer, I suggest you contact your state Tax and Treasury Department. Every state may not have identical requirements.
Contacting an attorney who specializes in taxes wouldn’t be a bad idea either.
Buying from a reputable dealer in iphones, ipods, Xboxes, or any other product is paramount. The internet may not be the best place to purchase the products you want to sell.
